Universal Orlando has lined up a refurbishment for Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey at Islands of Adventure, with Inside Universal first reporting the closure window. For visitors shaping a Potter-focused day at the resort, that means one of Hogsmeade’s best-known indoor experiences is set to go offline for almost two weeks in early 2027.
The attraction is currently due to shut from 8 February 2027 until 19 February 2027, although the dates are specifically flagged as subject to change. Universal’s own visitor information says attractions may close for refurbishing, capacity, weather or special events without notice, which is the usual caveat around these schedules.
What the ride is
On Universal’s official page, Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey is listed with a 48-inch minimum height requirement and Universal Express Pass access. It is described as a motion-simulation thrill ride in Hogsmeade, inside a Hogwarts Castle setting, with guests moving through familiar rooms before boarding an enchanted bench for a scenic dark ride.
That setting is what makes the maintenance window worth watching. For visitors planning time in Hogsmeade, the ride’s temporary absence will be the main practical change during that fortnight, even though the wider land remains part of the Islands of Adventure line-up.
What happens next
Universal’s standard visitor warning is broad: attractions can close for refurbishing, capacity, weather or special events, and the resort says those changes may happen without notice. That leaves the February 2027 window as the current plan, but not the final word.
The next checkpoint is simple: watch for any update to the closure dates as the refurbishment approaches. If the schedule holds, Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey will reopen on 19 February 2027.
