Community Guidelines

Last updated: 20 August 2026

Universally Bedford is an independent fan site, but the comments here are a real conversation between real people. These guidelines say what we expect from that conversation, how we keep an eye on it, and what to do if something goes wrong. We've tried to write them in plain English rather than legalese — if anything here is unclear, tell us and we'll fix it.

What we expect

Be decent. That covers most of it, but to be specific, comments should not contain:

  • Harassment, bullying, or targeted abuse of another commenter, a member of the public, or anyone else
  • Hate speech, or content that attacks people on the basis of race, religion, sex, disability, sexual orientation, or similar
  • Spam, scams, or unrelated advertising
  • Illegal content of any kind
  • Impersonation, doxxing, or sharing someone else's private information without their consent

Beyond that: try to stay on topic. Universal Studios Bedford news, the construction project, rumours, rides, theme parks generally — that's the territory. Disagreement and debate are welcome; personal attacks aren't.

How moderation works

Every comment is screened automatically before it goes live. Comments that pass are published straight away; anything the automated check isn't sure about is held back for a human moderator to look at, rather than being published by default. That means an occasional legitimate comment gets delayed for review — we'd rather that than let something harmful through, particularly given our obligations under the UK Online Safety Act.

Readers can also report a published comment. Once a comment collects a small number of reports, it's automatically taken down from public view pending a human review — the same fail-safe principle as the automated screening. Reporting doesn't guarantee removal on its own; a moderator still makes the call.

How to report a comment

Every comment has a Report button. Picking a reason — spam, abusive or harassing, illegal content, or something else — sends it straight to the moderation queue. Reports are anonymous: nobody, including the person who wrote the comment, is told who reported it.

What happens next: a moderator reviews the comment promptly. If it breaches these guidelines, it's removed. If it doesn't, it stays up. Either way, the report has done its job — flagging content that needs a second look is exactly what the button is for.

Complaints and appeals

If your comment was removed and you think that was wrong, or if you've spotted something that should have been taken down and hasn't been, get in touch via our contact page or email contact@universallybedford.com. Tell us which comment and why, and we'll review it — including takedown requests from anyone affected by a comment, not just the person who posted it.

The basics

  • You need a verified email address to comment. We send a one-time sign-in link — no password to remember, and we never show your email address to other readers.
  • Your display name is public and appears next to everything you post. Choose one you're happy to be seen under.
  • Be kind. It costs nothing and this is a small, friendly corner of the internet — let's keep it that way.

Changes to these guidelines

We may update these guidelines from time to time as the comment section grows. We'll update the "Last updated" date above when we do.
