Universal Studios Florida is changing two of its live shows at once, with Animal Actors On Location! set to close permanently and the Horror Make-Up Show moving into a Blumhouse-branded return. WDWMagic forums first flagged the May 12 closure in a new thread, and Universal later confirmed the temporary shutdown on its own blog.
The link between the two changes is that both are opening-era attractions. Animal Actors was part of Universal Studios Florida’s opening-day roster, while Horror Make-Up opened just weeks after the park’s grand opening in 1990. That makes this more than a routine bit of maintenance; it is a notable reset of two long-running pieces of the park’s daytime entertainment.
Animal Actors bows out
Animal Actors On Location! is heading for a permanent close. Orlando ParkStop says the show’s final performances are due on Monday, November 2, before the attraction closes permanently the following day. Universal has not yet shared what will take its place, and the future of the theatre space remains unconfirmed.
Horror Make-Up gets a Blumhouse refresh
The Horror Make-Up Show is being reimagined as Universal Horror Make-Up Show featuring Blumhouse. Universal says the new version will draw on classic Universal monsters and modern Blumhouse horror, but it has not yet revealed which specific Blumhouse properties will appear. The show has long been a behind-the-scenes comedy about horror films, makeup and practical effects, so the new direction keeps it firmly in the park’s horror lane.
The remaining unknowns are the reopening date and the exact shape of the new experience. Orlando ParkStop says the refreshed Horror Make-Up Show is expected back in winter, while Universal has only said more details are coming soon. For now, the only firm points are that Animal Actors is on the way out and the Horror Make-Up Show is being rebuilt around Blumhouse.
