Universal Orlando has now set a final closing date for Fast & Furious: Supercharged, and blooloop first reported that the resort also used the announcement to tease a new Fast & Furious coaster. For fans, the key point is simple: one Fast & Furious attraction has now finished, while Universal is already pointing attention towards the brand’s next ride at Universal Orlando Resort.
Fast & Furious: Supercharged has permanently closed at Universal Studios Florida. Sunday 16 August was its final day of operation, and the closure took effect on Monday 17 August. That makes this a permanent end rather than a short refurbishment break, and it closes the book on the attraction’s run in the park.
Universal’s next Fast & Furious ride is already being promoted
Universal’s own website is currently promoting a “New Coaster Coming to Universal Orlando Resort” and identifies it as Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift, due in 2027. The park’s public messaging is clear that the Fast & Furious name will continue to have a presence in Orlando, even though this teaser does not say that Hollywood Drift is a direct replacement for Supercharged.
The coaster tease also matters because Universal has been explicit about where that project is going: blooloop’s report says Hollywood Drift will be located at Universal Studios Florida and will replace Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit. In other words, the new Fast & Furious coaster is part of a wider reshuffle at the park, but it is not being presented as the successor to the recently closed Supercharged attraction.
What remains unconfirmed about the closed site
At this stage, Universal has not publicly confirmed what, if anything, will take over the Fast & Furious: Supercharged site. The closure notice and the coaster teaser both point to change at Universal Studios Florida, but neither one names a project for the former Supercharged footprint. That leaves the main question open for now: whether the space will become a new attraction, be left empty for a while, or be used in some other way has not been confirmed.
For Universal watchers, the immediate takeaway is that the Fast & Furious brand is still very much in play at the resort, but the future of the Supercharged site itself remains unclear. The next meaningful update will be whether Universal says anything further about that space, or whether the company’s focus stays on Hollywood Drift as the 2027 headline ride.
