Fat One’s is now only weeks from opening
Fat One’s Hot Dogs & Italian Ice is now only weeks away from opening at Universal CityWalk Orlando, and the exact day has still not been pinned down. Attractions Magazine first reported the latest update, after the restaurant signalled that it was in its final stretch and pointed towards a launch before the end of September.
That matters because Universal CityWalk is not just another retail strip; Universal describes it as the resort’s dining and entertainment district, where restaurants, shopping and nightlife sit alongside the main guest flow through Universal Orlando Resort. A new quick-service venue there therefore affects the food offer in one of the most visible parts of the resort, especially for visitors who spend time at CityWalk before or after park time.
What is taking over the space
Universal announced Fat One’s in May as the replacement for Hot Dog Hall of Fame at CityWalk. The older venue closed in July 2026 after operating at the resort since 2014, and the Orlando location has not yet had its full menu published, so guests still do not know the complete line-up that will be served when the doors open.
The latest update leaves little doubt that the opening is close, but it still stops short of a firm date. The restaurant itself says it is a few weeks away, and Fat One’s has not yet tied the launch to a specific day on the calendar. For anyone planning a trip this autumn, that means the window is narrow, but the final announcement is still outstanding.
What happens next
For now, the picture is straightforward: a new food option is moving into one of Universal Orlando’s most prominent public areas, and it is doing so on a short timetable rather than an open-ended one. Once Universal confirms the opening day, Fat One’s will become the latest addition to the Universal CityWalk Orlando line-up, and the only remaining question will be when guests can start ordering.
