Universal has named its first delivery firms for Universal United Kingdom Resort, the Bedfordshire project now moving through enabling works, according to Environment Analyst, which first reported the update. The scheme is set to be Universal’s first branded theme park and resort destination in the UK and Europe.
The resort’s September 2026 vendor and supplier update, published on the official project site, names 23 companies appointed to support construction. Universal says the list spans consultancy, design, engineering, construction, law and archaeology, and adds that further vendor and supplier updates will follow.
Who has been named
Among the firms named are Arcadis Consulting (UK), AtkinsRéalis UK, Buro Happold, Gensler Europe, Gleeds, Mace Consult, Mott MacDonald, Ove Arup & Partners and Ridge and Partners. The contractor names include Bovis Construction (Europe), Galliford Try Construction, Morgan Sindall Construction & Infrastructure, Sir Robert McAlpine, Wates, Winvic and Wilson James.
Universal also thanked a separate group of companies that supported the feasibility and planning stages, including CMS Cameron McKenna Nabarro Olswang, DWD Property and Planning, Edelman Smithfield, Flint Global, LCA Communications, LDA Design, Saphira Group, SLR Consulting, Town Legal, Volterra Partners and WSP UK. Taken together, the update shows the project’s professional team continuing to widen as the resort moves further into delivery.
Why this matters for Bedford
The appointments matter because Universal says enabling works are already underway, and the wider scheme is tied to transport changes that will affect how the resort is reached. Universal says the project will help deliver an expanded Wixams railway station, direct slip roads from the A421 and other local road improvements.
Bedford Borough Council says the development is expected to open in 2031, underlining why the supply chain and design team matter now rather than later. Universal says it will continue to share updates as the project progresses, but individual work-package allocations have not been confirmed in this latest update.
