Inside Universal first reported that Universal Orlando has extended the refurbishment of Jurassic Park River Adventure at Islands of Adventure, moving the ride’s return from 19 November 2026 to 17 December 2026. That pushes the closure out by nearly another month.
Universal has not given a reason for the longer shutdown or any details on the work itself. When checked on 9 October 2026, Universal’s own park-hours page was still listing Jurassic Park River Adventure as closed from 5 January 2026 to 19 November 2026, so the company’s published calendar has not yet caught up with the new reopening date.
What has changed
The practical effect is straightforward: a ride that was supposed to return in late November will now stay offline until mid-December. That leaves Universal Orlando with a revised timetable that stretches the closure deeper into the year and takes the attraction through the run-up to the Christmas holiday period.
For anyone checking the resort’s planning tools, the important point is that the updated date is now 17 December 2026, while the official park-hours page still shows the earlier November reopening. Until Universal updates that page, the two published schedules do not match.
What remains unconfirmed
Universal has not said whether this is routine maintenance, a technical issue, or work on something more substantial. The only confirmed change is the date itself, and the company has already noted that refurbishment timings can still move. If that happens again, 17 December will not be the final word on when Jurassic Park River Adventure reopens.
